Get ‘Super Skinny’ (?)
This is the second part of a two part post. Get Skinny Fast part 1 here.
I remember young mothers telling their daughters ‘appreciate how incredibly beautiful you are right now’ and I couldn’t understand what they were talking about. Couldn’t they see! the! hips! But you know what? A decade or so later – they were so right. Looking back on the pictures from high school, all you can see is glowing, gorgeous, fit girls. And that they thought any differently is a tragedy.
Your toxic word might not be ’skinny’. It might be ‘perfect’. It might be ‘killer abs’. It might be ‘Kate Moss minus the coke… i think. unless i need some to get as attractive as her…’. Keep your toxic word from your brain! Can you feel how you shrink when you think about it? Can you feel how your world shrinks so that other standards don’t matter, only how you measure up to this one, ridiculous word? The balance goes away – you aren’t thinking about your entire life anymore, just the one obsession. Keep this from happening, please.

If you’ve gone too far down that road, get help? Even if you haven’t – if you have disordered thinking about how you look, what it means for your self-worth, and what it means for your actual health, get help. Look online for NLP or EFT if you aren’t able to pay for a therapist. Find a supportive forum online – but be very conscious when choosing the forum, negativity surfaces fast on the internet. Find a different health and fitness plan – don’t lose the drive to be healthy and fit, it’s so important! But not more important the having balanced perspective about it. You can be driven without being obsessed. You can be ‘unreasonably’ into it (by the standards of most people) without being fixated – only you are going to know where the line is.
Please know… being fit and healthy is worth spades more then fitting an artificial standard of beauty. Being your best is so much different then being someone else’s best. You can reach an admirable, healthy, healthy body fat percentage and look amazing – even if you don’t look like a model. I think being overweight is a disservice to yourself – but once you’ve hit a level where your body does exactly what you want, don’t hate on yourself because you’re not a twig – because you’re not ’skinny’. Listen to the spades of people online showing you how magazines are photoshoped (but don’t let them talk you out of getting healthy). Read up on how different people’s metabolisms are wired differently (but don’t ignore the toxic foods you are eating that are messing with you). Please be healthy, beautiful, a good diva, a kind queen, a kick-ass, joyous, moving-leaping-bounding force of awesome humanity in your life! (if you’re a man and made it this far… substitute your personal favorite ‘awesome-inspiring-healthy-exciting’ words here
) That’s worth so much more the ’skinny’. Thanks for listening to me on my soapbox – I hope someone benefits even a little bit from this post.
