Fat Burning Furnace is a great low-effort diet and exercise weight loss program. It focuses on raising your resting metabolic rate (RMR) by increasing muscle mass (this is the “furnace” of the title), which I think is the most effective way to weight loss.
The book isn’t very concise, but it includes a lot of background information so you know exactly why you’re putting in the effort. There are over 80 pages describing how they want you to exercise – you’d think with that amount of words and pictures it’d be an onerous, time-consuming system, but it’s actually pretty light. They propose you exercise for only 20-25 minutes a workout for 3 workouts a week (less after you’ve laid the foundation). This would fit into anyone’s schedule, and I think a good way to keep you working their system for a long time.

The workouts are a kind of ‘lite’ version of HIT – a method used by bodybuilders for maximum results in minimum time. As a result, you’ll only be doing one set of exercises per body part per work out – which is amazingly efficient compared to standard basic weight lifting advice, with 3 sets of 8-12 reps for 2-3 exercises per body part. The focus is on lifting very, very slowly though – no pump-me-up gym music for this workout! You will feel the burn though (in a good way) – just because it’s short does not mean it’s not intense. It also replaces the need for cardio (and explains why). Please note that, although these workouts are short, they require you to have a gym membership or a fairly large collection of free weights at home.
In addition to the 80 pages of pictures, you can also chose to upgrade and buy video versions of the workout routines. They are meant to accompany the advanced (upgrade) versions of the workouts, but if you’re a beginner to weighlifting they’ll cover all the basics for you as well.
I wish this system talked more about nutrition – muscle building is a very effective process, but it’s fairly slow, and diet can bring about change more quickly. He is admirably focused on eating as a lifestyle though, not as a once in a while fix, and I think this is beneficial. He does give a sample meal plan and recommendations on where to find more information. Because I like knowing why what I’m doing works, I wish he talked more about the nutritional details of the systems. In sacrificing this though, he avoids all confusion – his guidelines are very clearly and simply laid out.
For a low time-commitment plan that is easy to stick to as a lifestyle and doesn’t require outrageous efforts, I think Fat Burning Furnace is a very safe program to buy. Please don’t think it’s NO-effort – it will still require dedication, but easier then most. I think the long-term view of weight loss is a highlight, and the very short but still effective workout style. Enjoy!

Here’s the testimonial from the site that I found most convincing…
…I was skeptical at first that this would work by itself, I am now a firm believer in and endorser of this program!
I fully intend to continue this program for the rest of my life. It is so simple and time- friendly, there’s no reason not to!
To anyone wondering if this program is too good to be true – I challenge you to try it! You will not regret it! And your body will thank you for it…”
