The BEST fat burning exercise!
So, you’ve come here for the single best exercise you can do to start burning fat like crazy! I think you’ve come to the right place, but the answer isn’t the one you are expecting.
The best fat burning exercise is…..
….
…
..
.
a mental exercise! (ha… please, don’t throw rotten tomatoes) Think about it – no one exercise is going to work every single muscle in your body… no one exercise is going to overcome a bad diet or a bad overall exercise plan. Take some time to work on your mental game, and the results over time will far exceed what they would have otherwise.
What’s involved in upping your mental game / actively practicing the best fat burning exercise there is?

Motivation – of course it would be nice to lose weight. Why are you just burning to lose weight? Is it a healthy reason – is it one you believe in? I think you will by far have the best results if your motivation is not one of fear – generally of rejection of some sort. If your fear is of rejection, at some point you’ll discover that people may be rejecting you for any number of reasons besides your weight (hang ups of their own…) and then what motivation do you have? If that’s all you have right now, use it to draw up and follow a plan – but be attentive and aware on the plan. How great does it feel to move your body, have it responsive to what you want? What a great release to sweat out some frustration, how clear is your head after exercising? How much better do you feel after a simple homemade soup or whole fruit then the roller coaster sickness of processed glop and candy bars? If you can pay close attention to these pleasures and let them be your motivation, how much healthier will you get? How much more fat will you burn?
Of course, cravings and laziness affect us all – so have some commitment to what you want! Schedule things in your planner (buy a planner or large wall calender). Make it hard for you -not- to exercise and eat as planned – accountability partner, online forum buddies, no junk or trigger foods in the cupboards – everything you’ve heard before, because it’s good advice.
Just do it, and stick with it.
Easier said then done, but in the end the mental exercise of finding the correct motivation leading to commitment will do infinitely more then an easily-forgotten ‘tip’ on a beneficial move on the mat.
…That said… if you insist upon a physical, gym-style exercise that will do more for you then any other, I would say a deadlift. They’re simple, yet tricky, require very close to perfect form or face rather severe consequences… and do a great job increasing just about every aspect of strength and metabolism. Go ahead and look up a good plan that includes them if you’re into weightlifting at the gym. I won’t try to give advice on them though, as I simply don’t want to take on the liability and plenty of other people have covered it already. But, I’m certainly a cheerleader for including deadlifts in the gym.
