(Oh boy - I had deleted this picture from my hard drive... This was the picture that kicked off my quest to actively lose weight... My senior year of college, I knew I'd been slacking on my diet and exercise... I was mad when someone snapped the pic on the left... But it really punched it home that I needed to get working on my weight, stat! I retrieved it from my friend, just to show as a comparison... The picture on the right is me, on an ordinary day (early afternoon, November 10, 2009, as I'm writing this) - a friend mentioned they wanted to see the face of the author, so I jumped up and posed

Hi! I’m Beth Benson – and I know what it’s like to think you’ll never get to the weight and look you want! The MOST IMPORTANT criteria to lose weight? (or anything really) :
ACTIVELY work on it!
Think, plan, strategize, prioritize, wrap your head around it – but then JUST DO IT! Taking action is the ONLY way to get results!
Here are other actions I found essential in losing weight -
- LOVE your plan!!! If you don’t believe in you plan and what it can do for you enough to say you love it, you won’t do it. Does it make sense to you? Does it accommodate what you will honestly do?
- MAKE A PLAN! The first bullet point implies this one – it’s really important that you start with a diet and exercise plan. Change it if you need, but start with something clear, and…
- FOLLOW the plan! Expect/Accept that you’ll mess up at least 15% of the time… and a good plan will account for that… and keep following it anyway. You haven’t failed until you stop completely.
